Byron Middle students stay busy with FFA

Byron Middle School’s Future Farmers of America chapter has been busy this fall. Members attended the Central Region FFA Leadership Rally in Fort Valley on Sept. 19. They participated in leadership and team-building activities and competed in FFA events.

The students partnered with Area 3 and Area 4 FFA officer teams to collect items for veterans for a community service project with Stag Vets/Comfort Farms. Byron Middle FFA members and agriculture students wrote letters of encouragement to veterans at Comfort Farms, and FFA members were able to present the organization with more than 150 letters at the rally.

In addition, 78 of the school’s chapter members attended the 2017 FFA Day at the Georgia National Fair on Oct. 10. Lastly, Brandon Ferguson competed in the Miniature Horse Demonstration and Horse Show with his horses Sunny and Goober at the fair on Oct. 9-10.

Callie Holloway serves as FFA chapter adviser for the school.
