Houston schools honored for fitness, wellness practices

Several Houston County schools were honored for their health and wellness efforts recently.

The Governor’s Shape Honor Roll awards are given to schools “for healthy school environments and a wellness culture for staff, students and the community,” according to a news release from the school district.

Watson Primary, Hilltop Elementary, Lake Joy Elementary, Matt Arthur Elementary, Pearl Stephens Elementary and Russell Elementary were six of the 125 Platinum award winners statewide, while Mossy Creek Middle was one of 62 honored with a Silver award.

Each school received a certificate, banner and fitness equipment prize pack.
