Cop Shop: Mother’s hair sparks sisterly spat

Two sisters were at their parents’ house on Bethel Church Road, south of U.S. 80 in west Bibb County. It was a Saturday afternoon. They and other kin had gathered to grieve a relative’s death. Then somebody grabbed a knife.

One of the sisters, 53, according to a Nov. 8 Bibb County sheriff’s report, said her sibling, 54, threatened her with the knife “during an argument about washing their mother’s hair.”

The younger sister said she picked up a broom to defend herself, but a family member restrained the knife-wielding sister. The older sister, who later agreed to leave, said she didn’t grab the knife until the younger sister snatched up the broom.
