Bibb County sheriff's corrections officer Andrea S. Bowman was granted bond Friday on charges that included marijuana distribution and possession. Her bond totaled $12,500.

A 27-year-old corrections officer for the Bibb County Sheriff's Office was arrested Thursday after she was caught with marijuana during a bust at a Harrison Road motel, authorities said.

Andrea Sursome Bowman was taken into custody with four others during a 1:30 p.m. raid at the Bridgeview Inn and Suites.

Bowman was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and violation of oath of office.

The sheriff's special investigations unit and SWAT team members served a search warrant after learning that Bowman was seen several times at the motel with a suspected drug dealer, according to a release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

Three others were charged with marijuana possession with the intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony: Maurice Jones, 20, Trevonte Harbin, 17, Shereace Bunn, 24.

Rodeco Jones, 34, also faces the same charges, plus charges of participation in criminal street gang activity and a failure-to-appear warrant from the Byron Police Department.

A subsequent Internal Affairs investigation found that Bowman had violated several office policies, including violation of rules, unbecoming conduct and conformance to laws. She was fired Friday afternoon.
