Man charged with murder months after fatal shooting at Macon graduation party
A man was arrested and charged with murder Monday, three months after he allegedly killed a man and injured two others at a graduation party in Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office identified Atraraus Marrell Rouse, 30, as a suspect in connection to the May 17 shooting on May 17, on Williamson Road, according to the Bibb County sheriff’s and coroner’s offices.
Rouse was charged with murder and aggravated assault, the sheriff’s office said.
Jaurice Markel Haywood, a 25-year-old Macon man, was shot and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Bibb County Coroner’s Office.
The U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Rouse in Jones County Monday afternoon, deputies said. He was taken to the Bibb County Jail and held without bond.
On May 17, deputies were dispatched to a report of a person shot just before 2:30 a.m. There they found three people had been shot, including Haywood.
A 24-year-old man and a 23-year-old man both had injuries from “multiple gunshot wounds” and were taken to the hospital to be treated, authorities said at the time.
