A saddled horse was spotted running down Bass Road at about 9 a.m. Friday.
Bibb County deputies talked with the owner of the horse and learned there had been an attempt to take horses and several saddles from her barn in the 1300 block of Bass Road, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
The horses were recovered, and a Honda Accord with a Florida tag was found parked behind the barn.
Deputies ran the tag information and discovered it was linked to a 16-year-old missing Jacksonville, Florida girl.

A deputy then found 16-year-old Brittany Carter and her boyfriend, 16-year-old Carlos Bernal, walking on Bass Road, according to the release.
After identifying the teenagers and asking if they wanted to sit in a patrol car out of the heat, Carter and Bernal ran toward a wooded area near the Providence subdivision, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies searched the area for several hours and received several calls from residents as the teenagers were spotted darting in and out of the woods, according to the release.
The search continued Friday afternoon.
Carter is described as a 5-foot, 3-inch tall white girl weighing about 110 pounds. She has brown eyes and “extremely long brown hair.” She may be wearing a black tank top and blue jean shorts, according to the release.
Bernal is a white, or Hispanic, boy described as standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 125 pounds. He has short brown hair and brown eyes. His clothing description isn’t available, according to the release.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the teenagers is asked to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
