Woman robbed at gunpoint at Macon motel; couple arrested

Bibb deputies arrested two people after a woman was robbed at a south Macon motel room Thursday morning.

The victim said she was visiting a friend at the Magnolia Court Motel at 4739 Houston Road when a man and a woman came to the room at about 7 a.m. after her friend had left for work, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

The victim told deputies the man went into the bathroom and the woman went outside.

When the man came out, he had a gun and demanded the victim's money, hit her in the head with the gun and took cash, pre-paid cards and her identification before leaving with the woman in what was believed to be a Nissan Sentra.

Deputies later identified suspects Jeffery Lamar Rainey, 30, and Amber Leigh Abney, 20, who were arrested Thursday evening at a home in the 4700 block of Houston Avenue .

The victim was treated at the hospital for her head injury and Rainey and Abney were charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault.
