Forsyth woman struck by train while walking on tracks in Macon

A Forsyth woman was struck by a train early Tuesday morning after walking along a stretch of tracks near the intersection of Hawkinsville Road and Broadway in Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Margaret Frances Tucker, 29, is listed in stable condition at a local hospital, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Tucker and a male friend parked a car in a wooded area and had walked about 600 yards south when a train came upon them just before 5:45 a.m. The man got off the tracks, but Tucker was struck before she was able to get to safety, according to the release.

Train workers stopped the train and rendered aid until rescuers could arrive, according to the release.
