Macon man accused in Forsyth car theft, Columbus bank robbery arrested

A man accused of stealing a car in Forsyth and robbing a Columbus bank was caught in Macon Friday, according to the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Michael Lee Hall, 56, of Macon, allegedly stole a red 1987 Chevrolet Camaro from Trophy Ford June 1 and drove it to Columbus where he and an accomplice are accused of robbing a Regions bank branch at gunpoint, according to a news release.

The Camaro was located abandoned in Columbus. A Crimestoppers tip led authorities to find Hall driving up to Enterprise car rental on Pio Nono Avenue after he’d been spotted in a rental car with a Texas license plate, according to the release.

Hall, who is on federal parole for bank robbery, is being held at the Monroe County jail, according to the release.
