Macon man charged in early morning armed robbery at motel

Bibb County deputies have apprehended a suspect accused in the early morning armed robbery of a man outside his Harrison Road motel room.

Samuel Mathis Dixon III, 37, of Macon is charged with armed robbery. He is being held at the Bibb County jail without bond, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Deputies were called to the America’s Best Value Inn, 4941 Harrison Road, just before 4 a.m. Sunday. Two men and a woman had allegedly approached a man outside his motel room. One of the men had brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s shoes, valuables and clothing from inside the room, according to the release.

The trio then left in a dark-colored, four-door vehicle.

Through investigation, Dixon was identified as a suspect and apprehended at the Bridgeview Inn and Suites, 6000 Harrison Road. Deputies served a search warrant at his room and recovered some of the items from the robbery, according to the release.
