Ex-Bibb deputy identified as prowler

Bibb County deputies have identified the alleged prowler confronted by an armed homeowner on Robie Drive last month as a former member of the department.

Seth Conner, 23, of Macon, turned himself in to investigators at about 5 p.m. Friday, hours after deputies distributed a photo of the alleged prowler captured by the homeowner’s security camera.

Conner was fired as a deputy with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and charged with violating his oath of office last month. According to an earlier release from the department, Conner arrested a 25-year-old woman March 19 after a brief foot chase on Mercer University Drive at the Interstate 75 overpass. The woman became “disruptive” while sitting in the back of Conner’s patrol car, and Conner allegedly struck her in the face while securing her seat belt.

He is accused of walking through a yard and onto the back porch of a house in the 5400 block of Robie Drive just after midnight May 25. He left after being confronted by the homeowner, according to a news release.

Investigators have said they believe the same man may be responsible for burglaries in the south Bibb County area.

Conner is charged with criminal trespass and is being held at the Bibb County jail on $650 bond, according to jail records.
