Bibb deputies release details in shooting at west Macon mobile home park

A Tuesday night shooting at the Westwood Mobile Home Park appears to be a case of self defense, according to details released by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.

John Ferguson is accused of behaving aggressively toward Lynette and John Jackson, who went to check on the welfare of Ferguson’s ex-father-in-law, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

When Ferguson refused to leave and continued to approach Lynette Jackson, her husband grabbed her gun and shot Ferguson, who ran away. No charges were filed against John Jackson.

Ferguson was found in nearby Hawaiian Village Mobile Home Park shortly after the 7:30 p.m. shooting and was taken to the hospital.

Upon his release, Ferguson faces multiple family violence charges including some stemming from a fight with his sister earlier Tuesday night.

She told investigators Ferguson was very intoxicated and she asked him to leave when he started choking her and broke windows in her home before he left.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
