Bibb County sheriff’s deputies urge residents to consider safety during Memorial Day weekend.
The sheriff’s office suggests the following tips:
Secure your home by locking doors and windows while you’re out of town. Don’t post vacation photos on social media until after you return.
Check the air pressure in your car tires and complete regularly scheduled maintenance to have your car “road ready.”
Slow down and drive safely, with the additional highway congestion increasing risk of injury and fatalities. Wear seat belts. Don’t drink alcohol and drive.
Don’t swim alone. Wear a life vest if boating. Supervise children when they’re in or near water.
Stay hydrated and use sunscreen when in the sun. Don’t get over-heated.
Keep emergency numbers at hand.
