Investigator: Serial arsonist could be behind Macon’s Napier area fires

A vacant house burned late Tuesday night in a deliberately set fire at 3484 Napier Ave.

Macon-Bibb Fire Department investigator Steve Wesson said the vacant house was “heavily damaged” by the flames reported at about 10:15 p.m.

Clothes and some furniture that might have belonged to someone squatting in the house helped fuel the flames in the house near the corner of Robinson Road.

“Somebody in the back part of the house was piling up wood,” Wesson said.

The fire was next door to another home heavily damaged in a March 4 arson at 3492 Napier Ave. About the same time that night, another fire was set less than two-tenths of a mile away on Log Cabin Way.

“We’ve got a fire bug over there somewhere, so we have to get him or her,” Wesson said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Georgia Arson Hotline at 800-282-5804 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
