Bibb County authorities say an inmate who faked a sickness to escape from a work truck last month was caught Thursday.
Ishmael Christopher Williams was picked up at City Lights Night Club, 1715 Shurling Drive, about 1:30 a.m., according to news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. Williams was charged with escape.
Williams was doing community service work at Lake Tobesofkee on March 20 when he claimed to be sick.
On board a work truck headed back to the jail, Williams waited for the truck to stop at a red light at Pio Nono Avenue and Mercer University Drive and got out, acting as if he were getting sick, authorities said. He ran toward Eisenhower Parkway into the woods, stripping off his detention center shirt.
