Gun fired in armed robbery of Pio Nono Avenue store

An armed robber fired his gun into the ceiling of the Citgo convenience store early Monday morning.

At about 6 a.m., the gunman got into a physical confrontation with the clerk who had followed him behind the counter of the store at 1803 Pio Nono Ave., according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The gunman took money from one cash drawer, then took a second cash register he couldn’t get open, the release stated.

The robber got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

He is described as a black man about 5 feet 4 inches tall who was wearing a black T-shirt under a gray, hooded sweatshirt with “Wisconsin” written in red on the front.

He was also wearing black Converse-style sneakers and a red bandana over his face, the release stated.
