Macon teen dies Saturday after being shot multiple times

A Macon teen was fatally shot Saturday at an abandoned car wash, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said.

Marquis Reginald Lowe, 19, of Macon died at Coliseum Medical Center, just a few blocks from where he’d been shot at the corner of Main Street and Jones Avenue.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said he expected Lowe’s body would be autopsied Monday morning by the GBI Crime Lab in Macon. The autopsy will determine, in part, just how many times Lowe had been shot, said Jones, who said he had multiple wounds.

The shooting took place around 6:30 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. They responded to a call of a person shot and arriving at the hospital’s emergency room.

Bibb County Deputy Linda Howard, a spokeswoman, said deputies continue to investigate the case.

Lowe’s death is the third fatal shooting since Thursday morning, when Andrew Darrell Brown, 49, was fatally shot by a resident who said he’d been attacked with a hammer by Brown, who was burglarizing his house.

Later Thursday, several men were shot outside a building at Macon Gardens apartments. Tavarous Veal, 19, died Thursday night.

Jones said he didn’t know of anything connecting the cases, other than the victims had been shot.

Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to contact the on-call investigator at the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or to call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68CRIME.
