Five people have been arrested in Monroe County, and another is being sought after a string of burglaries.
Four of the suspects -- 19-year-old Austin Kyle Nicholson of Juliette, 19-year-old Christian King of Forsyth, 17-year-old Dillan Gilbert of Forsyth, and 18-year-old Jonathan Andrew Nicholson of Forsyth -- were charged with varying degrees and counts of felony burglary and misdemeanor theft by taking. Jonathan Nicholson also was charged with felony financial transaction card theft and felony identity theft, according to a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Selena Sherell Nicholson, 41, was later arrested for felony theft by receiving stolen property, felony financial transaction card theft and misdemeanor theft by receiving stolen property. Steven E. Buchwald, 23, of Forsyth, was being sought Friday evening, the release said.
Authorities say the five men entered the Deer Creek subdivision off Jenkins Road on Feb. 18 and stole numerous items out of unlocked cars and trucks. On the same day, the suspects also attempted to burglarize a home on Bolingview Road but left the home when the homeowner arrived.
Half of the stolen items have been recovered.
Someone who purchased an item from the suspects and the item’s owner contacted the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and provided information that led to the arrests.
