A 26-year-old Macon man was arrested last week after a dog was found shot to death and several other dogs were found in poor health and chained to trees on Southfork Drive, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office incident report.
Jimmy Bradberry, of Travis Boulevard in Macon, was charged with two counts of animal cruelty.
A day before, an animal control officer visited the property off Thomaston Road. The dogs were in the same conditions upon the officer’s return, the report said.
Some of the dogs had injuries to their faces, and “they had no proper bedding and were bound to trees using heavy chains,” the report said.
The dead dog was found in the woods with injuries the animal control officer said were consistent with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to the report.
The other dogs were taken from the property by animal control officers.
