Man indicted in 2008 Macon bank robbery

A man accused of wearing a suit and tie while robbing Wachovia Bank, 150 Tom Hill Sr. Boulevard in July 2008 was indicted Tuesday.

Donald Bernard Kelly, 50, is charged with armed robbery in connection with the July 11, 2008 heist, according to an indictment filed in Bibb County Superior Court Tuesday.

Kelly, dressed in a blue suit and a red tie,is accused of giving a teller a note that read "this is a robbery" and "I have a gun," according to the indictment.

He took an undisclosed amount of cash and ran away, authorities have said.

Kelly later pleaded guilty in federal court to a July 16, 2008, Augusta bank robbery, also at a Wachovia branch. He was sentenced to five years in prison, according to U.S. District Court records.
