Tip leads to arrest in Bibb wallet theft

A tip called in to Macon Regional Crimestoppers led to the arrest of a suspect in a recently reported wallet theft.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office arrested 20-year-old Demonte Shaquille Slaughter on Tuesday in connection with the theft of a wallet from the Kroger at 220 Tom Hill Sr. Blvd. The theft happened in September.

The investigation included the release of an image from the store’s security footage on Monday.

Slaughter was arrested for one count of credit card theft and 12 counts of credit card transaction fraud. He is currently in custody at the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office with a bond amount of $38,350.
