The Bibb County coroner has ruled Tuesday’s shooting death of a 16-year-old was an accident, and the sheriff’s office said the shooting was self-inflicted.
Antrez Felder was fatally wounded inside a home at 308 Bobby Jones Lane shortly before 4:30 a.m.
“The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head,” said Coroner Leon Jones, “but the manner of death was accidental.”
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office received a call about gunshots in the area at about 30 minutes before getting the report of a person shot early Tuesday, but it remains unclear whether Felder was involved in a prior incident.

Jones said Felder’s hands were not tested for gunpowder residue, which could indicate whether he fired a weapon.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office issued this statement Wednesday afternoon: “After further investigation by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division it was determined that 16 year old Antrez Felder died as a result of an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.”
