Authorities: Macon County man, woman die in murder-suicide

A separated Macon County couple was discovered dead Friday in what authorities have deemed a murder-suicide.

Colonel Riley, 71, and Corine Riley, 60, were found dead in Corine Riley’s garage, located on Rueben Odom Road near Ideal, about 6 p.m., Macon County Coroner Grover Barfield said.

Corine Riley shot her husband once in the head as he sat in a car in the garage and then turned the gun on herself, shooting herself in the head, said Danny Jackson, GBI special agent in charge of the Americus field office.

Jackson said the couple had been separated for about 30 years and had been living together off and on trying to reconcile.
