Macon man pleads guilty to drug charge

A Macon man pleaded guilty this week to possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and was sentenced to eight years in prison, according to the Bibb County District Attorney’s Office.

Michael Jerome Anthony, 52, of Pine Hill Drive, was arrested in connection with a 2009 traffic stop near his place of business, Anthony’s Detail Shop, 783 Gray Highway, prosecutor Kim Schwartz said. Anthony entered his plea in Bibb County Superior Court.

After being pulled over by Macon police, Anthony attempted to take a water cooler inside the business and give it to an employee.

Seeing that he was acting nervous, police searched his van and found crack cocaine, powder cocaine, marijuana and a digital scale, according to a police report. Anthony also must serve two years on probation following his prison sentence, according to the district attorney’s office.
