Forsyth man wanted on traffic and drug charges

A 37-year-old Forsyth man ran after Macon police found methamphetamine and hydrocodone pills in his car during a Tuesday night traffic stop on Interstate 16 near mile marker 3.

An officer attempted to chase Michael Wayne Jones but was unsuccessful. Police were concerned because Jones was wearing only a T-shirt and jeans, according to a Macon police news release.

The Jones County K-9 Tracking Team, a Georgia State Patrol helicopter and additional officers helped search for Jones, but they were not able to find him, according to the release.

Arrest warrants have been signed, accusing Jones of driving with a suspended license, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, possession of a Schedule II drug and failure to maintain lane, according to the release.
