Macon man shot during argument about parking spot

A Macon man was shot during an argument about a parking spot at the Chevron, 1389 Pio Nono Ave., at about 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to Macon police.

Gregory Wayne Gunn, 56, of Roy Street, told police two other men picked a fight with him about a parking spot. During the argument one of the men, 29-year-old Robert Ia of Virginia Avenue, opened the door to Gunn’s truck, punched him in the face, grabbed him by the neck and tried to remove him from the truck, according to Macon police.

To protect himself, Gunn grabbed his own gun and shot Ia in the elbow. Ia got into a van and went to The Medical Center of Central Georgia. When questioned by police at the hospital, Ia said he was innocent and refused treatment, according to a police news release.Ia has been charged with aggravated assault. The Bibb County jail refused to admit him and he was returned to the hospital for treatment. He will be returned to jail after completing treatment for his wound, according to the release.
