Crawford officials: Russian roulette killed 19-year-old

A 19-year-old man died over the weekend from a gunshot wound to the head while playing Russian roulette, authorities said.

Ross Eric Jones, of 456 Gassett Road in Fort Valley, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound from a .32-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver, according to a statement from Crawford County Sheriff Lewis S. Walker. The shooting happened early Sunday morning at a Giles Road address in Crawford County.

Jones was taken by ambulance to The Medical Center of Central Georgia, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday.

Results from an autopsy are not back yet, the sheriff said. The shooting has been ruled a suicide.

“It’s tough on the family,” he said.
