A west Bibb County man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after Bibb drug investigators found “fresh remains” of a working methamphetamine lab behind his home.
Darren Keith Newberry, 41, of Newberry Road in Lizella, was arrested on several charges, including an accusation that he trafficked methamphetamines, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Investigators who served a search warrant at his residence had received information of possibly stolen vehicles there. While at Newberry’s property, investigators smelled a strong chemical odor and discovered the remains of the working meth lab, the release stated.
They seized seven rifles, five shotguns and six handguns, according to the release. A hazardous materials cleanup crew from Atlanta disposed of the lab.
