Macon man sentenced to detention center for ‘Peeping Tom’ charge

A 35-year-old Macon man was convicted Tuesday of peeping over the wall at a Bibb County tanning salon to spy on a woman.

The conviction follows a one-day trial in Bibb County Superior Court. Geoffrey Charles Cowan was found guilty of being a “peeping tom” in connection with the April 3 incident at Tan-Fastic Tanning Salon, 3994 Northside Drive, said prosecutor Nancy Scott Malcor.

Cowan was sentenced to serve five years on probation and 365 days in a detention center. While on probation, he must abide by sex offender terms, Malcor said.

Laura D. Hogue, Cowan’s attorney, said “we’re disappointed, but we will be considering appellate options.”
