Macon man charged with making false statements about fatal shooting

A 38-year-old Macon man has been charged with making false statements about the Sept. 18 fatal shooting of his fiancee at the East Lottery Store, 3030 Ocmulgee East Boulevard, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Garrick Sandor Malone, the owner of the lottery store, is accused of giving investigators several conflicting statements about the shooting that ended in the death of 46-year-old Maria Sims of Macon.

Sims died from a gunshot wound to the head, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Malone was inside the store, which was closed for business, at the time of the shooting. Deputies are investigating why Malone hindered the investigation by making false statements, according to the release.
