CrimeStoppers tip leads to arrests in armed robbery

A CrimeStoppers tip led authorities to arrest two men in connection with the Aug. 26 armed robbery outside the KwikTrip convenience store at 1924 Forsyth St. in Macon.

Charles Ottman, 27, confessed to the crime Monday while at the Macon Police Department’s detective bureau. Surveillance images were released to the media earlier this month, according to a police news release. Ottman has been arrested 18 times since 2000, police said.

Dexter Hogan, 23, was arrested and charged with armed robbery Tuesday by the Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force without incident at an abandoned apartment in the Schofield Street area, a subsequent Macon police news release stated. Hogan has 14 previous arrests since 2005, the release stated.

Hogan and Ottman are accused of following a customer out of the store and robbing him at gunpoint.
