Georgia Supreme Court upholds sentence in Macon killing

The Georgia Supreme Court upheld a life sentence for an Athens man who shot a man to death in a Macon motel room, the court announced Monday.

Todd Omar Jones, then 36, of Athens, shot 27-year-old Tavares Maurice Roberts in the neck in a room at the Discovery Inn on Chambers Road on June 6, 2006, during a robbery attempt.

Jones was found guilty in 2007 and sentenced to life in prison.
