Macon police released statistics Friday from the first three days of a police operation centered on the Village Green neighborhood that netted 200 criminal charges.
Monday, police made 80 charges and eight arrests followed by 25 charges and 10 arrests Tuesday. Wednesday, officials made 95 charges and four arrests.
More serious charges included a parole violation, a charge of hindering police and a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Tuesday, one person was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, four people were arrested on possession of cocaine, and three people were charged with an open container violation. Wednesday, there were arrests for felony possession of marijuana and possession of dangerous drugs.
The charges varied from day to day: There were 26 speeding charges Monday, none on Tuesday and 35 on Wednesday.
Police spokeswoman Jami Gaudet said intensive police operations are ongoing. She declined to say when they would end or where they would focus.
