Macon man shot in back

A 42-year-old Macon man was shot in the back about 2:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 1100 block of Cherry Avenue, according to Macon police.

Kendall Dwayne Pollard, of Cherry Avenue, told police he heard a knock on his door, “saw who it was and went to get his piece before being shot,” according to police report.

Pollard was lying face-down across a bed when police arrived, according to the report. His medical condition was not available Wednesday afternoon.

A witness told police she saw a man holding a black pistol on the porch wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. She said she saw another man wearing similar clothing standing in the driveway, according to the report.Police found four bullet holes in the front window of the residence and recovered a bullet inside a Lean Cuisine frozen entree inside the freezer, according to the report.
