Bibb County gas station manager robbed at gunpoint by man

Bibb County deputies are looking for a man who hid in the back seat of a convenience store manager’s car and robbed her just before 2 p.m. Friday as she drove to make a bank deposit.

The manager at the Shell gas station, 3903 Arkwright Road, told deputies she left her car windows down and her vehicle unlocked because her air conditioning wasn’t working, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

The manager got into her car and found a man was in her back seat. He said he had a gun and instructed her to drive to the parking lot of the Fairfield Inn by Marriott, 4035 Sheraton Drive, according to the release.

The man then told the manager to get out of the vehicle and walk. He drove the vehicle another half mile down the road, abandoned the car and took an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the sheriff’s office. The manager wasn’t injured during the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 746-9441 or Macon Regional CrimeStoppers at (877) 68-CRIME.
