Houston woman robbed when attempting to leave her home

A Houston County woman was robbed late Saturday as she was attempting to leave her Maplewood Drive home with her two children, officials said.

Arecia Harris, 27, was leaving her home at about 11:30 p.m. with her 1-year-old and 7-year-old when a man approached her with a gun and told her to go back into the home, according to a Houston County sheriff’s incident report.

The man made her sit on the couch and kept asking her “where it was at.” Harris did not know what the man was talking about. The man took $100 from her purse and fled, the report stated.

Houston County sheriff’s Capt. Robert Clark said Harris was not able to give police a description of the man other than he had a white cloth over his face and head. The man also was wearing black and white gloves and carried a small silver gun, the report stated.

Authorities do not know what the man was looking for, Clark said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Houston County sheriff’s Sgt. Joe Middlebrooks at (478) 542-2085 or (478) 542-2080.
