A 29-year-old Macon man was charged with several traffic offenses early Thursday morning after eluding a police officer and striking a telephone pole and another vehicle, according to Macon police.
A police officer attempted to stop a silver Toyota Corolla driven by Orin Kareen Threatt just before 3:30 a.m. after Threatt ran a stop sign at the intersection of Cowan and Womack streets, according to a police report.
The car didn’t stop but continued heading north on Emery Highway to Interstate 16, where the driver merged onto Interstate 75 and exited onto Hardeman Avenue. Threatt ran a traffic light and struck another vehicle, but he kept driving until he reached Ross Street and turned off his lights, according to the report.
Threatt struck a telephone pole at the intersection of Ross and Elm streets, got out of the car and ran to the back of a house on Elm Street. An officer caught Threatt after he fell while trying to run into a wooded area, according to the report.
