Macon man shot in thigh on front porch

Macon police are investigating a shooting that took place early Thursday morning on Center Street.

A police report stated that officers responded to a call from neighborhood residents, who told officers that Gary Len Solomon, 47, banged on their door and asked them to call police because he had just been shot.

When officers arrived, they found Solomon shot in the left thigh, sitting on his porch. Solomon told officers two men approached him as he was leaving the house and brandished a pistol, demanding that he open the front door. When he didn’t, one of the men shot him, and the two men fled.

When officers questioned Solomon and asked if he wanted them to investigate and prosecute the case, he told them he did not, the report stated. He also didn’t provide a description of the assailants.
