76-year-old struck in head, robbed

A 76-year-old man was struck in the head and robbed Thursday night while he was helping another man collect cans on Concord Street off Broadway in Macon, police said.

Lutha Crump was struck in the back of the head and collapsed about 9:10 p.m.

His family drove him to The Medical Center of Central Georgia, according to a police news release.

Money was taken from Crump’s wallet, and he gave a vague description of his attacker. His injuries did not appear to be life threatening, according to police.
