A Laurens County man is in custody after authorities said he shot another man inside a Home Depot store Friday afternoon.
Travis Register and Greg Barwick were inside the store, located on U.S. 80 in Dublin, about 3:30 p.m. when they began arguing, Police Chief Wayne Cain said. The chief did not have ages or addresses for the two men.
The two men began fighting, and Register struck Barwick with a hammer, Cain said.
Barwick pulled a pistol and shot Register in the chest, the chief said. Register was taken to Fairview Park Hospital. His injuries did not appear to be life threatening, the chief said.
“It’s a business area of town,” Cain said. “We’ve never had any problems in that area or at Home Depot.”No charges had been filed in the case by late Friday afternoon.
