Dog found dead and chained to post in Macon

A Macon police officer found a dog dead and chained to a metal post Wednesday behind a house in the 1200 block of Hillridge Avenue, according to a police report.

The resident at the house discovered his house had been burglarized after he’d been out of town for about a month. He said he was uncomfortable staying at the house, according to the report.

An officer stopped by to check on the house Wednesday and noticed the odor of a dead animal. The dog was lying between two empty bowls, according to police.

An arrest warrant is expected early next week, said Jami Gaudet, police spokeswoman.
