Woman sentenced in Macon baseball bat assault

A Conyers woman was sentenced to serve nine years in prison and 11 years on probation in connection with a 2009 assault on Macon’s Orange Street that left a man kicked and beaten with a baseball bat.

Rebecca Lord, 25, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault Tuesday, the day her trial was scheduled to begin, prosecutor Nancy Scott Malcor said.

Lord’s co-defendant, 17-year-old Taylor Walton of Macon, pleaded guilty March 1 to aggravated assault, theft of a motor vehicle and false imprisonment, according to district attorney’s office records.

Walton and another boy, 16, attacked 40-year-old Jamie Callahan on Aug. 24, 2009, taped his hands together and tried to tie his feet together with an extension cord, according to a Macon police report.

Callahan told police a woman known as “Beckey” called him to the house. At the house, the woman tried to throw a sheet over him and force him out of the house.

Callahan escaped to his home on Forest Avenue and called for help, according to police.
