East Bibb County store robbed at gunpoint

A masked gunman robbed the Family Dollar at 3656 Jeffersonville Road about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

Employees were outside locking the doors when the gunman came from around the corner of the building and ordered them back inside to open the safe, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. The robber got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The gunman is described as a white man about 5 feet 6 inches tall who was wearing a dark blue, hooded, fleece jacket with a thick, light-colored strip across the back. He also was wearing stone-washed blue jeans, gloves and a black, hooded face mask, the release stated. Witnesses saw a man fitting that description hanging around the store earlier in the evening. He had dark brown hair and mustache and a stubbly beard.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 746-9441 or Macon Regional CrimeStoppers at (877) 68CRIME.
