Out-of-state officer shot at by nephew in Macon

Macon police are investigating an aggravated assault that took place Sunday afternoon, a report stated.

The report stated that the victim, Kirt Yarbrough, a police officer in Killeen, Texas, was in Macon to visit his mother’s home on Alberts Lane. While there, he found a piece of crack cocaine allegedly belonging to his 18-year-old nephew. He turned the drugs in to Macon police on Friday.

When his nephew returned home Sunday, Yarbrough confronted him about the drugs, the report stated. The nephew allegedly drew a gun and started to shoot at his uncle. Yarbrough ran toward Sapp Street to draw the gunfire away from his mother’s home and called Macon police. The nephew left the scene.

Warrants have been issued for the nephew, the report stated.
