Macon man sentenced in string of burglaries

A Macon man has been sentenced to serve 10 years in prison and five years on probation after he pleaded guilty to seven counts of burglary, according to the Bibb County District Attorney’s Office.

Steven Anthony Austin, 20, of Claburn Road, was indicted in August on 11 counts of burglary stemming from a string of heists in early 2009.

Austin’s co-defendant, 34-year-old Andre J. Brown, of Ponce de Leon Avenue, pleaded guilty to identity theft in November and was sentenced to serve eight years on probation with credit for the 210 days he served in jail after his arrest, prosecutor Myra Hutchinson said.
