Florida man charged with rape, criminal murder attempt

A 34-year-old Florida man has been arrested on allegations he raped and severely beat a Macon woman in February.

Tayvon Paris Washington, of Pensacola, is charged with rape and criminal attempt to commit murder, according to Bibb County jail records.

When officers interviewed the 24-year-old woman at The Medical Center of Central Georgia on Feb. 10, her eyes were swollen shut and she was bleeding from the back of her head, according to a police report.

While the woman’s injuries prevented her from telling officers much about what had happened, her family said she had a boyfriend who lived in Florida, but visited on the weekends. The couple had been dating for about two years, according to the police.

The woman later told officers that Washington, her boyfriend, struck her with an electrical cord at her Bowden Homes apartment between 11:25 a.m. and 12:45 p.m., according to the report.

Messages left for the case detective were not returned Wednesday.

Washington is being held at the Bibb County jail without bond, according to jail records.
