Macon police, fire officials investigate suspected arsons

Macon police and fire officials are investigating three suspected arsons that took place since Friday, according to police reports.

The first incident took place at the 700 block of Liberty Street Friday morning at a vacant house that had no gas or electricity, officials said.

A second fire broke out at the 4600 block of Ayers Road late Friday afternoon, also at a vacant house.

A neighbor informed officials that he saw an unidentified man near the house shortly before the fire started.

A third fire took place early Monday morning, a report stated. An empty house on Leon Drive was destroyed by fire about 4 a.m. The owner of the house told investigators that a tenant moved out of the house a week earlier.

No injuries were reported in any of the fires.

Anyone with information about the fires is asked to call Macon Regional CrimeStoppers at (877) 68-CRIME.
