Macon officers respond to burglary call, find fire

Macon police responded to a burglary call at an apartment on Merriwood Drive early Sunday morning, only to discover that the apartment was on fire.

Officers pulled several people out of two apartments about 5 a.m., a police report said. One of the residents had called police because she heard a lot of running and banging and thought someone was trying to break in. Her phone went dead about the time she saw smoke, the report said.
