Macon woman in coma after shooting

A woman was in a coma Saturday after being shot in the head Friday during a domestic dispute, Macon police said.The shooting happened at 8:38 p.m. at 2711 May Place in the Unionville neighborhood.

The victim was Cynthia Rhodes, 35, according to Macon police Sgt. Zac Self. A handgun went off during a dispute between Rhodes and her husband, 43-year-old Bernard Rhodes, Self said. Bernard Rhodes then called authorities about the shooting.

Cynthia Rhodes was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia. The shooting took place at the home of Bernard Rhodes’ brother, according to police.

Bernard Rhodes was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. He was being held Saturday at the Bibb County Jail.
