Macon man shot in the chest

An 18-year-old Macon man was shot in the chest early Thursday morning, Macon police said.

Benjamin Eugene Reese Jr., 18, of Fulton Street, is charged with reckless conduct in connection with the shooting, according to a police report.

Reese told police he pointed a gun in the air and pulled the trigger. When nothing happened, he pointed the gun at Nicholas Shedd Ryan, of Skipper Road, and pulled the trigger again, shooting Ryan in the chest, according to the report.

Both men told the police they had smoked marijuana and played with a knife and gun. They said they’d been friends since grade school, according to the report.

Ryan told officers he didn’t want to prosecute, according to the report.

Reese is being held at the Bibb County jail on $650 bond, according to jail records.
